What Our Medical Tourism Patients Have to Say.
I recently had a full hip replacement at the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale with Dr. Shane Martin and his exceptional team. As someone with no prior or medical issues whatsoever, I was terrified by the idea of surgery. But if I wanted to stay active, I had no choice.
Every step of the process was seamless. The team was kind, patient, informative, and highly experienced. They assured me I was an ideal candidate, and they delivered. As a Canadian facing a multi-year wait for surgery, coming here was the best decision. The robotic anterior approach, not widely available at home, proved perfect.
Remarkably, I flew home just three days post-surgery with no issues. My experience exceeded the glowing reviews I’d read. If I ever need my other hip replaced, I’d gladly return. Dr. Martin and his team are the best of the best—professionally and personally.

Frequently Asked Medical Tourism Questions.
Whether you’re coming from Canada or elsewhere for your joint replacement, our medical tourism program is designed to make your experience as smooth, stress-free, and transparent as possible. To further promote transparency, you should read through the answers to the frequently asked questions below.
Why do Canadian patients choose medical tourism for joint replacement?
Since many Canadians face long wait times for orthopedic surgery under their country’s public healthcare system, they opt for medical tourism to get faster care. Additionally, the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale offers access to advanced technology and delivers personalized service, making medical tourism even more ideal.
How long will I wait for surgery at the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale?
Our surgeons see most patients within 4 weeks of their inquiry. On average, this wait time is significantly faster than what is currently experienced in countries like Canada.
Will I know the full cost of the procedure before committing?
Yes. The Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale delivers transparent, all-inclusive pricing without hidden fees or surprise charges, helping you tailor your expectations.
What kind of post-op care is available after I return to my country?
Our team provides ongoing support even after you return to Canada or whichever country you call home. We offer consistent access to our staff for questions and follow-up guidance. We can also communicate and coordinate with your local healthcare provider if needed.
Is it safe to travel for surgery?
Yes, with proper planning and care, most patients can travel before and after a joint replacement surgery. Plus, the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale provides comprehensive pre-op instructions, recovery planning, and personalized support that will make your traveling experience as safe and comfortable as possible.
What if I need help with travel and accommodations?
Our team can give tips and suggestions that can facilitate travel planning. As Arizona residents, we can recommend nearby accommodations to help make your stay in Scottsdale stress-free.
Will my insurance cover the surgery?
Insurance coverage for hip or knee replacement surgery depends on your provider, but most provincial health plans in Canada do not cover out-of-country elective surgery. Our treatments are realistically and affordably priced, encouraging most medical tourists to pay for them out of pocket.
Still, private or supplemental insurance may help with some costs. If needed, the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale can provide all necessary documentation for reimbursement requests.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for joint replacement at the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale?
To confirm your eligibility, we’ll start with a virtual consultation to review your medical history, discuss current symptoms, and perform diagnostic imaging if applicable.
Why choose the Joint Replacement Center of Scottsdale over other international options?
In addition to our world-class surgeons and robotic technology, we give patients fast scheduling, transparent pricing, and personalized care they crave. Plus, our center is only a short flight from neighboring countries like Canada.
